about
Erin Smith is a South African artist from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, whose work is primarily situated within the discipline of sculpture. Her practice explores mythology, environmentalism, and the interrelationships between humans and wider Nature. Erin prioritises working in line with an ecologically-conscious ethos and she often incorporates natural and organic found objects into her artworks. Her work consists of mostly Land art, found object assemblages and installations, and metalwork, as well as collaborations with videographers and digital artists.
Erin obtained her Fine Art bachelors and honours degrees in 2021 and 2022 respectively, both awarded cum laude, and recently completed a Master of Visual Arts degree which she once again obtained cum laude.
